Tying Mandrel

The Vario–Shaper achieves its best results when the first wire at the waist of the reed stays quite round. This leads to a fuller sound, a more stable reed geometry, and the right tension at the reed's opening.

To achieve this with a regular mandrel is not easy. That is why we offer a special mandrel to go with the Vario–Shaper — it influences the reed's stability favourably right from the tying step. The two complement each other perfectly, and the results are remarkable.
